Devin says he writes his music to inspire and he believes you can show people that you can come from nothing and become something, no dream is too small and no obstacle is too big. His favorite quote is “It’s not how you start, but how you finish.”
His biggest inspiration and influence is his mother, father, and grandmother. “Making them proud and making sure they’re okay is my main goal. They taught me how to prioritize to never forget what comes first, second or last.”
The first song he memorized word for word was ‘Tell Me Something Good’ by UGK. You will find him constantly working on his music, new material and performance techniques. “I love music, I love the lifestyle that my music represents I can’t think of anything else I would rather be doing, but music.”
We asked if we stole his iPod what would we find he said, “Young Jeezy and Bankroll Fresh All Day.” We asked his opinion about the current state of music he said, “I think it’s time for a new wave. A new set of artist to take over and change how things are now. It’s not bad, but I think we can do better.”
In the future, we could see him collaborating with some of his favorite artists like Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole, Rick Ross, Jay-z, and Beyonce as well. When he’s not working you’ll find him watching sports center and enjoying some Surf and Turf (Steak & Shrimp) washed down with Hennessy.
