We got to interview THE DJ Kayotik from Queens, New York. He’s been called the King of the club, ‘The Movie Director’ and more. “When I walk into a venue I take the event from 0-100 real quick. From the things I say on the mic, to the songs I select. I thrive off making sure my events are not just parties, but they are an experience of a lifetime.”
He originally started off his career as a party promoter, but then realized he loved entertaining and keeping the crowd energetic. “I became and MC and with my love for music and desire to be one of the best entertainers in the world I evolved into being a DJ and VJ.”
We asked him about his biggest inspiration he said, “If you would have asked me this question a couple of years ago I would have named off a list of pioneer Dj’s such as Kid Capri, Dj Clue, Jazzy Jeff, etc. Now my biggest inspiration is my son Dante aka DJ Kidd, who unfortunately passed away 2 years ago in a tragic accident. I ONLY perform as a DJ now, so that I can live out HIS dreams. He’s my motivation, my inspiration and my angel in Heaven.”
We wanted to imagine ourselves in his shoes so we asked him about his most memorable moment for him. He said, “ I have had many memorable nights, but one that sticks out the most is my celebrity event at the Tropicana Hotel in Vegas hosted by Nicki Minaj. I believe it was Floyd Mayweather fight weekend so it was a sell out crowd. The energy, the lights, the vibe. It was just incredible. And start studded, to say the least. It was a true night to remember.”
If he could be stuck in Era any of music for eternity he would choose the 90’s. “ That era has delivered timeless music from artist such as 2 Pac, TLC, Biggie, Mary J Blige, Wu-Tang Clan, just to name a few.” We have to agree there’s so much 90’s love on our team.
He’s been a Dj for a while now and we wanted to see what advice he had for the up-and-coming DJs. Heres’ what he said, “The Only mistakes any aspiring DJ could make is not respecting the craft and culture of being a Dj. It’s a responsibility and an art form, that should never be taken for granted. My one piece of advice would be pay homage to the pioneers who have paved the way for the younger generation of DJs. No Cheating. Learn your craft. Respect the DJ.”
His favorite brand of equipment is the Technic 1200’s “I was taught and influenced by some of the best pioneer DJs in the world. So, of course, my initial preference will always be the Technic 1200’s.”
“I not only bring the excitement to the party but that I AM THE PARTY!!” When DJ Kayotik is in the building, get your popcorn ready because it’s about to be a MOVIE! “I Stay busy living out my son’s dreams.” #LongLiveTheKidd
