We got to speak to the Queen behind ‘I Am Priiincesss.’ Cindy Lafalaise. A blogger and Fashionista who’s the definition of an Island girl born and raised in Haiti from Haiti to Florida, but she currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
She loves the idea and the history behind southern hospitality in Atlanta but loves being surrounded by young business owners in Atlanta.
When it comes to style she believes that simple is best. “I Love bold colors and prints, but at the end of the day, the goal is to look elegant and well put together. I like to think of my style as classic with a twist or a little bit of sassy, ok, a lot of sassy. I focus on pairing pieces that I actually love, nontrendy and can really help make me look effortless and elegant.” You’ll find her shopping at Thrift stores, her online boutique, Macy’s clearance racks, and ShoeDazzle. “I’m a big thrifter, my favorite store is Goodwill. If it’s not shifted then it’s from my online boutique, PRIIINCESSS. I have over 100 pairs of shoes and 90% of them are from ShoeDazzle.”
She finds freedom in business and building her own brand. “Most of my time is spent growing my online brand PRIIINCESSS clothing. An online women’s clothing store, but then there’s my blog. I a lot attend a lot of events to build lasting partnership and professional relationships.” She’s faced her struggles with business, but listening to podcasts, to learn how to structure and market her brand. Her current readership is over 10,000 views a month. WOW!!
We wanted to get into the history of ‘I Am Priiincesss’ the brand. We asked why the additional characters are in the word princess she said, “I’m definitely a Princess, but when I was registering my twitter name in 2009, the regular spelled ‘Princess’ was not available and I refused to be anything else. So I just added a few “II” and additional “S” and that’s pretty much how the entire PRIIINCESSS brand was formed.
She offers a variety of services to other bloggers and she told us about her Blog 101, a blogging coaching program, to help other bloggers get started or grow their current blogs. “I choose to share my secrets and knowledge with others because I wish I had some type of guidance when I started blogging back in 2011. Blogging is a whole lot of work and I truly take my time coaching my clients to help set them up for success.”
Her clothing brand is a reflection of her personal style. “My line is an online clothing company dedicated to the everyday fearless woman. I currently carry dresses, jumpsuits, and swimsuits. In 2018 I plan on being a strictly dress shop, but at this moment I love swimsuits, especially the one piece graphic suits.”
We wanted to know her 3 fashion must haves she said,
“I have a lot of fashion must haves, but my top 3 are:
- A great classic watch.
- A Cape, I love a great cape that can literally throw over anything and everything.
- A Cross-body bag – super easy to carry around.
Social media is extremely important in her business. “A Majority of my traffic is coming from Facebook. While I do send out a bi-weekly email, do a lot of networking, social media is my number one source of marketing. My brand is on EVERY platform.”
She’s currently working on a Podcast with her best friend. “The Secret is Work” will be launching January 1st, 2018. If I’ve learned anything over the years is that EVERYTHING takes WORK and in order to achieve any level of success you must be willing and ready to put in the required WORK. And that’s pretty much what we’ll be talking about.”
When she’s not working which is a rare occasion you’ll find her having brunch with her friends, catching up on TV shows, going to get her nails done, catching a movie, going on dates or spending the day in bed.
She absolutely loves sushi and of course Haitian Food. (We need a plate or six, please.)
