DJ HipHOp Magazine Music

Our interview with producer @DreGoodDrakes

He’s constantly working on his craft he said, I try to make something at least once a day. If I’m not in the right space to create I’ll study the music of others to develop new skills and ideas. When it comes to balancing life it’s often stressful but he manages saying “I don’t sleep some days and sadly I just fall asleep in class. I make friends with everyone in most of my classes so they help me keep up.”

We got to interview producer DreGood from Killeen, Texas, but currently residing in Atlanta Georgia. He loves what he does as a producer he said, “ I became accustomed to the trap sound of music, but I love mixing trap drums with melodies and rhythms from other genre’s.”

In High school, he was an aspiring rapper and even performed a club called the Cuckoo’s Nest. He soon fell in love with the production of music and not just the lyricism. He draws his musical inspiration from artist like Metro, Lil Wayne, London On Da Track, Diddy, Young Thug as well as Future.

The first song he’s memorized word for word was Lil Wayne’s ‘Sky is the Limit’.

If we stole his phone or iPod we’d find a mix of Hip-hop music from artist like Young Thug, Yung Nudy, 21 Savage, Future, Sauce Walka, 2Chains, T.I., YG, PartyNextDoor, Wiz Khalifa as well as TyDolla$ign.

He considers the women in his life to be his biggest heroes. “My Mother, Her mother and the women I’ve been involved with inspire me to work hard. They’ve made countless sacrifices to allow me to evolve and grow as a man.”

The current state of hip-hop music is always a big question we ask. He said, “The music industry now is in a period of transformation. We’re hearing history repeating itself with samples and we’re getting different sounds from new artist some good, and some bad. I feel it’s important to encourage it for the culture of music itself.”

If he’s ever stuck on an island you’ll find that his five things to take with him would be A female companion, weed, his phone, a piano and a lighter. When it comes to his favorite foods he said, “I’m addicted to the food at Benihana, Whataburger, Raising Canes & Waffle House. when it comes to my favorite drinks I stick to orange juice & water.”

When he’s not working on music you’ll find him watching Martin, The Office, Fresh Prince or Impractical Jokers.

We asked him to finish our sentences.

When I’m having a rough day..”Beautiful Women” usually pick me up.

When I’m excited about a project the first person I would call is …”My mom”

When I’m bored you’ll usually find me. “Doing some shit I have no business doing.”

If he wasn’t working as a producer he would be “A DJ or something in Fashion”

I want my most expensive purchases to be “My mother a new house and my dad a new car.”
